creating movie posters using canvas
Consumed.png

In the process of producing of CCR task, one of the tasks requires us to make a movie poster for our films and I used the online technology Canvas as a tool to help me with the poster designs. In Canvas, it provided a different template of movie posters, including a wide range of genres, then by using the keyword “horror” helped me to minimise the templates I could pick from, each template has different elements and layouts of titles. At the same time when I scroll through all the designs, it also inspires me with different ideas and helps me to interpret the conventions of horror movie posters. For instance, how I spot the major use of black and white to illustrate the horror genre, and how they often use red as the colour of their title to connotate danger, death and blood. Moreover, some posters, also used contrast colours like black and white which brought me the idea to highlight the contrast we include in our opening sequence “Good vs. Evil” by creating a boundary in the middle of the poster with the crack. Canvas also provided different materials we could use including different icons and symbols the black crack in the centre of my poster was from the canvas.

In addition to online technologies, I also used another Chinese software to help me photoshop the picture of the character’s eye called “xingtu” originally this shot in the sequence both eyes were the same, but to highlight the theme of the film, I used this software where it provides makeup option with a range of contact lenses I could choose from and by clicking on the picked one it will automatically change the character’s eye into the red than by using the eraser tool to erase the effect for one eye it then creates the image shown on the poster. Furthermore, Canvas also supports this by providing different fonts, the font I used was “IM Feel English Sc” which helps to create a historic sense relating to the concept of ritual.

In CCR task one we were required to analyze the conventions of the same genre films and different representations. I used Canvas as the platform to create my presentation, for presentation, there’s also a wide range of design formats I could choose from. Especially, some formats provide a special transition format which makes the presentation look far more interesting. I searched “horror” and “Halloween” to help me pick out suitable designs. Although, the design already provides the format to relate each slide to the point I was mentioning I also used different materials provided by Canvas. For instance, when I’m mentioning the key iconography for horror films, I search “skeleton” in the material section and found a wide range of icons and images of skeletons I could use. Canvas also provides different text bubbles I could use for text, providing me with a good way to fit the text in while not blocking all images and gifs that provide evidence. Moreover, to provide evidence that demonstrates different conventions I use different online technologies including Billibilli and 123.com to get access to all the similar films freely, then select the evidence by using a screen record and upload it onto YouTube to make all the small section of the films into gifs. At the same time, I also used YouTube to get access to our opening sequence, and spot evidence for me to compare our opening sequence with others.

creating a presentation using prezi

In our CCR Task 3, we were required to make a presentation using Prezi. Prezi provide a movement presentation, where we could design different transitions through a timeline format. To start the presentation, I used an existing design format on Prezi including all the designs of movement within the presentation including the order it zooms into minor and minor points. But the original design involved too much zooming in followed by zooming out which could make the viewer of my presentation dizzy affecting them to be unable to focus on the context of the presentation. Therefore, I changed the layout to contently use zooming in throughout the whole presentation. Moreover, with Prezi we could also add story blocks, and additional points, with the additional story blocks it could create a new point on the story line which is what I added to each section for recordings of my developments. Then with these story blocks, we could also change the layout with a range of layout options including text with images, small text boxes, diagrams etc. Furthermore, I also used another form of online technology which is my Blog. As the whole purpose of the presentation is to record the development of technical skills and research and planning process which were all recorded on my blog, thus, I used my blog as a platform to help me provide context so I could summarise and remember myself how I adapt all the skills in my final product.

Through the evaluation process, we also used the online technology Wix to create a website. With Wix it provides me variety of elements to use including embedding links, galleries, with all these elements it allows me to embed links to other technologies i produced through the process including canvas, prezi, youtube link of our final product. It also help me to present the visual in multiple forms, for instance, it allow me to link a link with the image, thus, when the audience click on the image it will directly lead them to the website. Moreover, through creating website, i used BBC.com as an example for me to follow, by spotting what element real website include to make the website more detailed. For example, in BBC it provides header enable audience to access to different part and section of the website which is also included in my website.
